For those really wanting to follow up on the history of thrifting, flea markets, and the like, I recommend an amazing book, The Scavenger's Manifesto. Check it out on amazon.com and GoodReads.com, where, BTW, I also have author pages!

The novels of Mary Kay Andrews often deal with thrifting, vintage outfits, and antiques. So do those of Jonathan Gash, the Lovejoy novels. Sharon Fiffer's mysteries about a picker and her adventure are also right up our alley; check out her website, too. She lives the thrifter's life.

Poets have written about the rag and bone shop of the heart; Dickens wrote about them a lot in his books, especially
Bleak House and
A Christmas Carol.
Our Mutual Friend talks about pickers and Jenny Wren, who runs a doll hospital and dresses dolls.
The Old Curiosity Shoppe and
Cricket on the Hearth touch on the same subject.

Here are some fashion finds, a couple like Talbot's are pricer, but there is a sale section on their site. Don't underestimate Rubylane.com, either for vintage fashion adventures, and happy shopping!
I have not bought from all of these places, so be aware I do not work for them or endorse them, just make you all aware of what is out there :)
